George Suckley, United States Army surgeon and naturalist, participated in the Northern Pacific Railroad Route Survey led by Isaac I. Stevens. The party made explorations and scientific investigations from St. Paul, Minnesota, to Puget Sound in Washington during the years 1853-57. Suckley collaborated with James G.
